I’D Really Like to Meet You Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2009 I don’t know you but I’d like to meet you Standing there, just love to greet you Can you see me We’re standing here is this crowded room And I’m hanging out with my cloud of gloom Oh can you see me now Years of life spent up against the wall Just trying to blend in I’ve been thinking It’s about time To let this old wallflower in I don’t know you but I like to meet you Standing there, just love to greet you Can you see me I can’t even look your way To catch your eye and try to say Can you see me now Never sure of and always doubting What it is I’m supposed to do I’ll need something Close to a miracle Just to pull me through I don’t know you but I like to meet you Standing there, just love to greet you Can you see me I don’t even know your name But I’d like to meet you just the same Can you see me now Draw the courage and make that first move Step from the sidelines of life Just be bold and completely outrageous And ask you to be my wife I don’t know you but I like to meet you Standing there, just love to greet you Can you see me I don’t even know your name But I’d like to meet you just the same Can you see me now

In the Morning Light Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2009 In the morning light Sun upon your skin Dancing freely there Warm and comforting Ah………. Don’t let this end Drifting in and out Fight against the day Catch a dreamy look At your sleeping face Ah…….. I love you so Chorus As we start another day Pack the dreams along the way Fear won’t hold us back no more Take my hand and dare to soar Touch that icy floor Barely make the stairs Coffee’s brewing now Frightful tussled hair Ah…. Will you love me still Back beneath the sheets Talking soft and low Just another day With our dreams in tow Ah…I love you so Chorus In the morning light Ah……… I love you so

neverland 04:07
Neverland Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2006 There’s a world out there Where man has lost his way He’s forgotten how to dream But little boys all know The secrets in the games We’ve all forgotten how to play Chorus So I’ll be your Neverland I’ll be your Peter Pan Already half way there Lost boy without a care Come and take my hand I’ll take you to Neverland Lifted by faith it seems To that place beyond our dreams But don’t tell me stories that are true Cause if you do I can’t fly There’s no place here for all that pain I wanna fly………. So I won’t go back there I’m safe within my world I’ll keep your reality at bay If growing up makes you think That happiness is child’s play Then this is where I’m going to stay Chorus So go believe in what you will I’m just fine cause I can fly With every twist and turn of life I’ll just fly……. Chorus

Joanie’s Song Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2006 Saw you standing at the head of the line A Dark Haired woman looking so fine My head took a spin towards your way And your glance made me want to say CHORUS Won’t you be mine Could you be mine Won’t you be mine Oh just this one time Well a glance turned to hours and long, long days spent Talking on end about the ways We’d pass the time and have some fun And love each other till the morning sun But somewhere along the line We passed that place in space and time Where our two hearts joined it seemed And now I’m asking with that gleam Won’t you be mine Could you be mine Won’t you be mine Oh more of the time And as we stroll those evening sands Still laughing loud while hand in hand I catch that look within your eyes That takes me to those morning sighs And as we lay there in the glow We warm ourselves with love that grows Basking sweetly in tender smiles That leaves me all the more beguiled I ask why Won’t you be mine Could you be mine Oh a lot of the time I know there will be hard times But we’ll get by Babe we’ll get by Love’s not for the fainthearted Let’s give it a try Let’s give it a try Well I don’t know where we may go But something tells me I may know We’re headed where the view is fine And love surrounds all the time So take me to that special place Where nobody else can trace A paradise with rainbow skies Flamingos, oceans, and endless highs And be mine Could you be mine Won’t you be mine Oh all of the time Won’t you be mine Could you be mine Won’t you be mine Till the end of time

Where are you now Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2009 Where are you now When nights are cold and lonely Where are you now When it really counted Where are you now While I’m slowly sinking Where are you now… Come to me now Won’t you come to me now Smooth this furrowed brow Chorus But time was the only way to see The truth behind all my selfish needs Change came too late for you and me Where are you now that I’m finally growing Where are you now that guilt’s subsided Where are you now that I finally see you Where are you now… Come to me now Won’t you come to me now Let me smooth your furrowed brow Chorus Come to me now Won’t you please forgive me now

Still Dreaming of You Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2009 Chorus We were dancing in the Hall We were dancing in the Hall We were dancing in the Hall Still dreaming of you How we’d swing and we sway And your hair how it’d splay We were Dancing in the Hall Still Dreaming of you Floating on air Gliding in Space Moonlight’s sweet charm Smiles on your face Chorus We’d dance until the dawn With our High Stepping on We were Dancing in the Hall Still dreaming of you As we prance through the night Keeping to stride I’ll always be Here by your side Chorus Won’t let this dream Come to and end I’m holding tight Through thick and thin Chorus I’ll hold you close to me As the band plays past three Forever in my arms Just dreaming of you Swirling in time Dancing with grace I’ll keep on going If you hold the pace We were dancing in the Hall We were dancing in the Hall We were dancing in the Hall Still dreaming of you

last sail 03:28
LAST SAIL Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2007 Well its anchors away Again my son And I’m sailing to My journey’s end Chorus: Don’t be sad Don’t you cry Hug your Mom Tell her why You just stop and take the time From the storm raging in your mind Cause I’m always there with you I'm in their eyes Well its anchors away my son Take the helm and steer Her true and firm Don’t be sad Don’t you cry Hug your Mom Tell her why It’s the wake you leave behind That ripples and moves with time I’m gone but there with you I’m in their smiles Well its anchors away again my son Hold on fast and rise above each storm Don’t be sad Don’t you cry Hug your Mom Tell her why That legacies pass with time From the father on down the line With each child born you’ll find I’m in their hearts Well its anchors away, again, for sure And the lessons you leave are tried and pure Won’t be sad I won’t cry Hug my Mom Tell her why That love will never fade Once it’s lived and sown with care With the choices made each day To be a family man

CONEY ISLAND GIRL Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2007 Coney Island girl Pretty as a picture Standing there Such a beautiful fixture Coney Island girl Won’t you take me home Saw you there By the boardwalk sign Parasol in hand Nearly lost my mind Coney Island girl Won’t you take me home Coney Island girl Won’t you make my day Say you’ll be mine In every way Coney Island girl Won’t you take me home Lost in love while the world crashes down Fortunes gained, crumble before us But lives built on empty promises falter Shattered and broken they fall to the ground So here we are just rising above We only see love’s reflection Cause… Coney Island girl You’re here in my dreams Pulling this man Through love so it seems Coney Island girl Won’t you take me home Coney Island girl Won’t you give me this dance And we’ll waltz through life As if in a trance Coney Island girl Won’t you take me home

Memories of Loving Kindness Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2009 We were Oh so young Our Life stretched out before us Standing amidst the trees Unable to see the forest But where does that youth go And our visions of tomorrow I broke a solemn vow And left us both in sorrow Our Life began with hope But my heart it did wander And brought us to an end Our happiness I squandered The gift of precious children Loving Mother, wife to me I paid you back with pain It’s the same sad old story And as the years unfold I’m grateful for the fondness You took a chance on me And put the fault behind us But how does one repay A lifetime of forgiveness Sorry is too weak a word to say Forever bound to you In Memories of loving kindness

Patiently Waiting for You Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2009 I don’t care if the sun don’t shine If the taxman comes and he robs me blind I don’t like mean people I’ve met Reality shows or the national debt I can’t stand that Dr. Phil And the crap he sells and other swill People are numbed by a TV screen A cathode ray is stealing their dreams Chorus I’m just here waiting for you Patiently waiting for you To take me from this dreary life And lead me to the another side Where I can catch a fresh breath or two I don’t care if my 401 tanks Or if we ever rescue another bank I don’t like where this country has gone Leaving the little man stepped upon Hard work rewarded with unemployment lines Killing each man just one at a time It was greed that started this great big mess And dragged us all into the deep abyss Chorus I don’t care for myopic news That’s got us all singing the blues The Earth heats up and the markets crash And we’re all going down in a heap of trash Filling our minds with depressing views Got us all thinking we can only loose Chorus I don’t care if my hair falls out My joints all ache and I’m growing stout I don’t like this old wrinkled skin But it’s what I’m forced to be living in My mind’s still strong and my will’s still bent On searching for something that’s heaven sent Final Chorus: That's why I’m waiting for you Patiently waiting for you I am just waiting here for you To take to me another life So I can just go spend it with you

until now 05:47
UNTIL NOW Words and Music by Robert E. Ellis © 2008 Can’t believe this state I’m in You’re the one who started this tailspin I don’t know oh where you’ve been But til now this is where we begin Chorus Because I know There have been holes In my life Only you can fill in Cause until now Oh I’ve been lost Cold in the dark Searching you out And as we spend Another day Who would have thought We’d end up this way Chorus Backing Chorus: The long and lonely nights, lonely nights Recede and fall Your love is saving me, saving me From drowning years You reach within me now, in me now And see what’s real My love falls down on you, down on you With grateful tears So let’s hold This gift so dear A chance like this Could soon disappear Chorus Backing Chorus: This empty wandering, wandering Hopeless wandering Is slowly vanishing, vanishing I feel you near Your beauty’s calling me, calling me And calms the storm The endless crashing tides, crashing tides And waves of fear The long and lonely nights, lonely nights Recede and fall Your love is saving me, saving me From drowning years You reach within me now, in me now And see what’s real My love falls down on you, down on you With grateful tears Backing Chorus: This empty wandering, wandering Hopeless wandering Is slowly vanishing, vanishing I feel you near Your beauty’s calling me, And calms the storm Final Chorus: Then came you There’s only you Thank God it’s you My precious you Babe it’s you

about

My first thanks goes to Joanie who has encouraged, inspired, and supported every stage of my music development over the years, not to mention her patience in dealing with my "artistic temperament"!
Thanks and love to my parents and my siblings for the gift of a joyous childhood that still keeps the “little boy” alive today. To my amazing kids, Nate, Ben, and Hilary, who make me so proud of the quality people they have become.

Many thanks to the countless fellow musicians who have encouraged me to keep moving forward with the often painful craft of songwriting, notably my instructors Peggy Lynn, Delilah Poupore, and Jerry Bryant, and a whole host of great friends from Meadowlark Music Camp, especially my dear friends Beth Lawton and the ladies from Y2K. A warm appreciation for the angelic voices of Delilah Poupore, Kathie McCatherin, and Jen Comeau , the "Divas" of song. To the incredible craft of Michael McNerney of Port Media. To my many dear friends, especially Cherie, and to the "Rangeleyettes" who prompted me to record these songs after hearing me play on freezing cold nights at camp.

This CD is dedicated to my grandparents, Mary and Alfred Scanlon, who first instilled my love of music around the piano in their New York City apartment. Married for over 67 years, they were my first teachers of the meaning of love and are still the cutest couple I have ever met.

Peace and good wishes to all,

Rob

about

Rob Ellis South Portland, Maine

From his first terrifying solo singing performance in 1967, at the tender age of 9, Rob has been belting out songs across all musical genres. His love of music started as a child crowded around the piano in his Grandparents' tiny NYC apartment. His songs are honest and heartfelt and Rob’s tenor voice lets loose to the accompaniment of angelic backup singers and a host of incredible musicians ... more
